Adult/Child Art Classes
Creating with a child can be such a bonding experience as you share a common goal and process.
Sessions will be two hours and easily accessible and adaptable to all age groups and artistic levels!
$85/session (includes one adult, one child)

Sunday May 19, 3PM-5PM
Cut Paper Hummingbirds
$85 (includes one adult, one child) $25 for any additional person
In this session we will be creating a collage hummingbird accented with watercolors. We will sprinkling salt on our watercolors to watch the salt crystals burst when dry! We will surround our birds in a garden and will learn about layering and overlapping.

Suns and Moons
$85 (includes one adult, one child) $25 for any additional person
Our Sun and Moon are magical! Let's capture their essence as we blend our oil pastels to make majestic sun and moon faces. We will also be using lots of colored paper to create sun rays or moonbeams. If suns and moons aren't for you, you could also turn your face into a person with long paper cut hair! In this session we will learn proper blending techniques, will be considering color palette, will be making some printed papers and will let our imaginations take us wherever it wants to go!

Textured Rainbows

In this session we will review color and texture as we create multimedia collage rainbows using paper, buttons, colored tape, pom poms, glitter and more! This session will be fun and bright and is easily accessible for all age groups. Perhaps you could even add a sun behind the rainbow! Creating in this session will add color and joy to everyone.

Sunday June 23, 3PM-5PM
Cardboard Robots
$85 (includes one adult, one child) $25 for any additional person
Your robot can be two dimensional or three dimensional! We will be using cardboard scraps and hot glue guns to create our robots and will decorate with colored paper, bottle caps, popsicle sticks and more recycled found items! You could even go on a treasure hunt with your child before the session to explore any home items that may be used and bring along. Tin foil works great too! My robot is painted but I believe we will spray paint our robots in the session to save time. Plus it is fun! I will have colorful and metallic spray paint. You will also be encouraged to think about your robots function. Mine brings me coffee in the morning! This will be a great building, collaborating and exploring activity with your child.

Swirling Pinwheels

In this session we will create function pinwheels! Our pinwheels will be created from chalk dipped paper. We will also paint a swirling background for them to nestle into fill of flowers, leaves and more! This is a great multimedia session, plus it is fun to blow and test out the pinwheels

Bamboo Panda

This session will focus on collage and texture. We will be using painted paper to create and decorate our pandas and will be using watercolor and salt for our bamboo stalks. Want to make your panda a kung fu master? Do it! The basic shapes of this panda will be traced from precut poster board so that all pandas are the right size, but after that the decorating is up to you and your imagination!

Underwater Hippos

This project is playful and very easily accessible. The shapes are simple but the personality is big! Have fun making different colored fish or other creatures in your waters and a bright colorful bird on top! This is a paint free project focusing on cut paper shapes, modge podge, colored pencil and tissue paper.

Sunset through the Trees

This session will use watercolor and pastel to create a beautiful sunset with colorful cut paper trees lining the front. We will learn about how to show a sense of space or depth in art and will also focus on pattern. The flying geese are 3D! This will for sure be a frame worthy piece!

Playful Fish

There are many techniques used in this session including watercolor and salt, oil pastel blending and fluorescents! We will talk about overlapping, contrast and how to keep our work neat and clean. I will also have examples of different tropical fish to look at as inspiration for a fish of your very own. This would make great beach or lake house decor!

Hokusai Waves

This session takes inspiration from Japanese artist Hokusai. My wave is pretty simple but this project could be taken to a more detailed place too like his paintings. We will spend some time watching a short kids video (7 minutes) about the artist before we dive into our paintings and will look at some of his other work. Splattering the waves with white paint works great to get the capped, foamy look of the ocean and we will get creative with our backgrounds as well.

Kandinsky Inspired Paintings

This session takes inspiration from Russian painter Kandinsky! We will watch a short kids video (7 min) to learn about the artist and get inspired. We will talk about emphasis, repetition, variety, contrast, movement and balance as we learn the key components of a great design. We will also focus largely on color mixing and tips for painting cleanly. Students will also have access to oil pastels, posca paint markers, and colored pencils to enhance the interest of their design even further!
